As of the 2016-2017 school year, Tennessee's schools were home to more than than 43,000 English language learners. Every bit of the 2014-2015 school year, the most mutual v languages spoken past ELLs in Tennessee were Spanish, Arabic, Somali, Chinese, and Kurdish. (U.Southward. Tennessee is a member of WIDA (Earth-Course Instructional Design and Assessment). WIDA is a consortium of states dedicated to the design and implementation of high standards and equitable educational opportunities for English language language learners which offers states programming for identifying and annually assessing the English language development of its English learners.
